DIY: Lace and Flower Initial

Everyone wants their space to be a reflection of their personalities, and if your personality is feminine, flirty and a little shabby chic, you’re going to love our latest DIY. Our cool, customized initial uses faux flowers and lace that look beautiful when paired together. You can make an initial that matches your personality by varying the trims. Use grosgrain for a preppy look, or jacquard for something more vintage-chic.

What You’ll Need:

5.25” Floral Pattern Chantilly Lace

6” Chantilly Floral Lace

Wooden Letter

Fake Flowers

Sobo Glue

Hot Glue Gun

Paint Brush

Scissors

DSC_00061. Cut your lace into pieces.

DSC_00112. Paint the Sobo Glue onto the letter.

DSC_00143. Gently lay the lace over the glue. Pat down. Let dry.

What You’ll Need:

1 1/4” Beaded Fringe With Satin Tape

1 3/8” Beaded Fringe On Braid

16mm Imported Double Face Satin Box Pleated

Three Small Vases

Scissors

Glue

 Gluing Beaded Trim Around Pot  1.Measure each trim around the vases.

Cutting Trim2. Cut the trim to the appropriate length.

Gluing Trim with E-60003. Glue the trim around the top rim of the vase.

Holding Trim in Place After Gluing4. Hold trim firmly in place, and let dry.

4 Ways to Embellish Spring Home Decor Part One: Blooming Pillow

When it comes to decorating for spring, flowers are always a favorite for us at M&J! Our first 4 Ways to Embellish Spring Decor segment features a DIY for one of our favorite decorating items, the throw pillow! This DIY teaches you a technique to make fun flowers out of ribbon that can be adapted for other types of DIYs too.

Blooming Pillow DIY Materials

What You’ll Need:
Pillow
50mm Double Faced Silk Ribbon in Mint
2.5” Hand Dyed Silk Satin Ribbon in Aurelina, Fresh Celery and Lobelia
E6000
Hot Glue

DSC_01361. Using the ribbon create rosettes by taking the end of one ribbon and bunching it together into a little ball, then hot gluing it in place.

Creating flower from mint ribbon2. Twirl the ribbon, and hot glue it down every few inches to create “petals”.

Gluing Flowers to Pillow3. Make three or four ribbon flowers, and glue them onto the pillow in the desired pattern with E6000 glue.
