Yves St. Laurent Designer Spotlight

Today is late designer, Yves St. Laurent’s birthday. Laurent was an iconic French designer who rose to fame in the late 1950s, and introduced innovative new styles like Le Smoking, the tuxedo suit for women. Laurent’s fashions progressed with the times; as women became more liberated, the styles followed suit. Le Smoking, the tuxedo designed for women, turned the fashion world upside down in 1966. It was such a departure from the feminine styles of the 50s, yet still flattered the female figure.
