For all of you fantasy fans out there, Game of Thrones is coming back on Sunday! And while the story lines are incomparably complex and fascinating, another component that makes the show amazing is its costume design. Being located in the Garment District of New York City, we’ve seen quite a few spectacular costumes. Many even use our trimming! One thing that sets a good costume apart from a great one is the attention to detail, and these costumes each tell a story. The pieces in this show never fail to dazzle.
Many of the garments worn by women in positions of power represent their house through meticulous embroidery. While Queen Cersei often wears birds on her dresses, she is also know to wear costumes with lions, her family’s sigil.
They costumes often reflect the storyline of the characters as well. Although its sometimes difficult to see the details clearly on a smaller screen, each costume is created with the plot in mind.
There are often small details in each costume, like the rose belt above, that signify what family the character is tied to, making it easier to discern the loyalties of each!
Daenerys, also known as the mother of the dragons, is often seen in blue. This dress was sewn in such a way to make regular cloth appear like scales.
The costumes in this show are really extraordinary, and we can’t wait to see what they have in store for the upcoming season!
