New York City Window Displays

Many New Yorkers will agree that winter is one of the most magical seasons of the year, especially in the Big Apple. From the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller Center, to the light show displayed on the windows of Saks 5th Avenue, it’s truly one of the most unique and special times of the year. Every year we become completely inspired by the holiday atmosphere of the city, and we thought we’d share a little bit of New York magic with our readers!

These beautiful animated window displays from Lord and Taylor brought us back to a forgotten time. The illustrated scenes paired with the moving characters looked like a storybook coming to life.

Saks 5th Avenue had a whimsical story displayed in its windows. Passersby could follow the story of a young yeti who was determined to chase his dream! Kids were lined up around the block to see the animatronic yeti in action!

  1. I really enjoyed the post because I’ve never been to NYC. In my small part of the world, I know two neighbors who have decorated their extensive yards with Christmas lights that flash in time to the music on a particular radio station. It’s fun to tour the neighborhoods in a car with a cup of hot chocolate handy 🙂

  2. Just came back from New York City, spent 6 days there what a busy place the Christmas season is the time to go, so much to do and the windows are great also all the Christmas markets. Can’t wait to go back next Christmas season.

  3. It’s nice to see that some of the “Old Guard” art of “Window Trimming” is returning….There was a time when the front windows of every store set the stage of what was inside. I miss it!
