Lately we’ve been loving all of the awesome elastic trims that we have in our store, and we’ve been dying to use some in a DIY. So we dreamed up this lovely headband, created with some metallic elastic and beaded trim. If you’re looking for a last minute Halloween costume, this would be the perfect accessory for a Grecian dress, but you could also rock it on an everyday basis. Check out the DIY below!
1. Get your supplies. You need: 2 ft beaded trim, 1 ft metallic elastic, E6000 glue, and scissors. The metallic elastic we used is style number: 00531 and can be purchased by calling customer service at 1-800-9-MJTRIM.
2. Trim your beaded trim so it is about 15 inches long, and trim your elastic so it is about 8 inches long. Your length may be different – just trim the beaded trim so it fits over your forehead from ear to ear, and trim the elastic so it goes behind the head from ear to ear when stretched.
3. Place a dot of glue at one end of the elastic, then fold the end over on top of itself (about 1 cm) to reinforce the end. Hold in place until it dries. Do the same for the other end of the elastic. This will make the ends stronger so they can support the beaded trim. Then glue one of the ends of the elastic to the back of one of the ends of the beaded trim.
4. Glue the other end of the elastic to the other end of the beaded trim, to form a circle.
5. You’re all set! Simply slip the headband over your head and you’re ready to show it off.
