Runway Roundup: DIY Inspiration From Fashion Week

The collections at Fashion Week are always a major source of DIY inspiration, as we love scouting out the upcoming trends and thinking of ways to create them ourselves. This season definitely didn’t disappoint, as there were plenty of over-the-top embellishments, leather accents, and bold accessories. We rounded up a few of our favorite shows and the different ways they’re inspiring us. Which collection did you like the best?

Gucci – We loved the bright necklaces at Gucci, which mixed together flowers, gems, and spikes for an incredible combination. We’d love to recreate one with flowers and gems from our store. The embellished collars were also to die for.

Alexander Wang – This collection was full of sleek leather accents, strategically placed cutouts, and clothing that seemed to float in mid-air. You could easily DIY these looks by adding long leather straps to your favorite pair of shoes, or by cutting apart a t-shirt and adding a transparent panel.

Rodarte – The leather fringe accents are definitely DIYable, but we especially loved the elaborate chain belts. Secure some chains together, add a few brooches, and you’ve got a chic, Rodarte-inspired belt!

Dolce and Gabbana – Like always, Dolce and Gabbana showed an incredibly elaborate, intricate collection. The shoes were detailed with bright braided raffia, and we adored the fun earrings. You could definitely DIY these looks by stitching some bright thread onto a natural bag, or by adding braided cord to a simple pair of wedges.

Jason Wu – This collection was especially lovely, with sweet little embellishments on some shoes and tops. But there was a bit of added edge with sleek leather harnesses and metal accents.
