DIY Camera Strap by Thanks, I Made It

We teamed up with Erin of Thanks, I Made It for another original DIY. Keep reading to see the tutorial for Erin’s adorable camera strap!

I recently purchased a great new camera that, while compact, deserves a great camera strap to match. I was inspired by one of M&J’s original DIYs, the studded neon leather bracelet, and adapted it for a camera strap. In my favorite color, the strap has come in handy so many times since I made it– it’s perfect for carrying around my new baby.

Tools and Materials:
40 inches of faux-leather braided strap (comes in loads of bright colors!)
Fold over the prongs of two sides of the stud.
Press the remaining prongs through the braided strap, about 2 inches away from the end of the strap.
Fold over the prongs to attach to the strap.
Slid braid through metal clip, and add glue.

Fold braid over itself, press firmly for 30 seconds, and then hold in place with a paper clip or binder clip until the glue dries (overnight for the strongest hold).

(A quick DIY trick– I added large jump rings to my camera to the original carrying strap bracket, which was too small to clip anything to it)

  1. I love this! Thank you so much for posting. This is waaaay cuter than the standard-issue camera straps. I’m going to try it!

  2. that’s a nice camera Erin, and a super nicer strap! I loved it so much 😀 I’m planning on buying a more-professional camera sooner, and this is perfect for then. xoxo
