London Fashion Week Fall 2015

London Fashion Week just wrapped, and there’s something special about the designers that show across the pond. There’s an effortless coolness to the style there, and we can’t help but covet the pieces we saw. christopher-kane-tait-rtw-fw15-runway-33

New York Fashion Week Spring 2015 Recap

Beautiful clothes, stunning models, outrageous sets; what’s not to love about Fashion Week in NYC? Check out some of our favorites from these past few days and let us know which ones YOU love! Desigual - Runway - Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015Desigual is known for being bold and bright, so it’s no surprise that we saw prints on prints on prints with a surplus of tropical florals at their show.

bcbg1The looks at BCBG were, in one word, heavenly. With beautiful, flowing layers, the models looked like modern-day goddesses.

919Fashion Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2015The looks at Rebecca Minkoff were young, fresh and definitely appealed to the young millennials. But how could they not, when 3D glasses are part of the show?

charlotte-ronson13Charlotte Ronson kept it cute with boxy, tomboyish numbers as well as more simple feminine pieces.

mara-hoffman-collection-fashion-week-2015-gallery-2Mara Hoffman’s collection will be the staple of the colorful bohemian this summer, with bold and billowy maxis and surfer-girl swimwear!

Trend Alert: Mad About Mod

This fall we’re falling back into the swinging 60s with short a-line dresses, knee-high boots, and bold graphic prints. Fashion always has a way of reverting on itself, and reinventing the old in a new way. This coming season we’ll be seeing classic mod styles with “modern” additions. Think more metallics, sparkling embellishments, and a diverse color palettes.

gucci-fall-winter-2014-show34Gucci knows how to modernize the trend with leather in an unexpected powder blue and go-go boots.

dsquared2-fall-winter-2014-show30DSquared2 has it down pat with a slinky blush mini and hair that’s as high as the heavens.

downloadSaint Laurent put the edge into this ’60s style with this all black ensemble.

Mod-SquadLouis Vuitton stayed classic with ’60s silhouettes in neutral colors. This style is super wearable and glamorous all at once!

We love the bright mustard of this Carven two-piece ensemble. And when it comes to boots, it’s go tall or go home.

Paris Fashion Week SS2014 Roundup

Anyone can spot a French girl from a kilometer away. She looks put together without trying. She is effortlessly chic. She’s a master at layering, and her style exudes romance. You might think that sweet sentiment was embraced during Paris Fashion Week SS2014. Well you would stand corrected because this year the power players played with power as a theme.

Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Week SS2014

Those dark headdresses at Louis Vuitton made the models look showgirl-chic. The feathers, the embellishments, and the attention paid to the tiniest decorative detail really show how skilled this fashion house is at its craft.

Valentino Paris Fashion Week SS2014

While we may never be royals, we can always pretend with Valentino’s collection. It featured heavy embroidery, and silhouettes worthy of a queen. We loved that the looks were paired with simple, flat Grecian sandals. Who says queens need to be subjected to the hazards of heels?

Chanel Paris Fashion Week SS2014 Pink Tweed Jacket

Coco Chanel once said, “The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” We think someone was definitely thinking aloud when creating this collection! Chanel’s classic looks were taken to bold extremes: huge pearls, saturated tweed suits, and extreme neon makeup.

Givenchy Paris Fashion Week SS2014 Brown Rhinestone Dress

Givenchy mixed Japanese and African influences for this collection. Some of the models donned crystal-covered kabuki “masks”, which were both sparkly AND a little intimidating. We wonder if they used Swarovski crystals, preferably not hot fix! Ouch!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WfAmL-dIBQ&w=420&h=315]

The Rick Owens show really blew us away. Remember that ethereal Parisian we were talking about earlier? Yeah, this show wasn’t for her. Step dancers took the stage in lieu of models, and powered through an energetic dance number. Watch the video above, and join us in collective awe.

Milan Fashion Week SS2014 Roundup

Milan Fashion Week is drawing to a close, and while we’re excited for Paris Fashion Week, we are a little sad to see it end. There’s a cool confidence in Italian fashion that you can’t find anywhere else, and this week provided perfect examples of that effortless persona.  Here are a few of our favorite looks from the Italian runways for Spring and Summer 2014.

Emporio Armani SS2014

Fashion house, Emporio Armani, opted for a light, cool-toned palette for SS2014. The shapes were streamlined, yet soft, and the muted pastels were chic alternatives to the Easter Sunday dresses some of us grew up with as kids. Gone are the days of bold baby blues! (At least for now.)

Fausto Puglisi SS2014

Contrast is the word that comes to mind when discussing the Fausto Puglisi show. Bold, voluminous skirts were paired with edgy biker jackets. This look is definitely reminiscent of an 80s LA rocker. AC/DC anyone?

Prada SS2014

At M&J we love embellishments and details, which is why we think Prada is after our own hearts! Bold colors, dramatic sequins, and artistic prints were seen all over the runway. It makes us want to skip through fall and winter altogether!

MAXMARA SS2014

We would love to “slip” into something more comfortable, like one of MAXMARA’s designs. The beautiful neutral palette and simple shapes of the coats and dresses made MAXMARA a standout this year. Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?

Moschino

Are you a saint or a sinner? At the Moschino show, they had a style for you no matter your moral affiliation! Model duos came out with contrasting looks; some for the bold and brash, others for the demure. We loved the juxtaposition, and thought this was definitely one of the most entertaining shows of the week.

Jil Sander SS2014

At Jil Sander, minimalism never goes out of style. Their looks were feminine, wearable, with strong silhouettes throughout. Although we love bright details, sometimes simple is so chic.

Pucci 2014

Pucci is the powerhouse of patterns, and SS2014 proved to be no different for the Italian  favorite. We loved the bright mixed patterns, and the attention grabbing belts used to tie the looks together. Made famous for their bold and graphic prints, this year they decided to go a little tribal. We can’t wait to see this look in NYC’s urban jungle this spring!

We would love to hear what your favorite looks were at Milan Fashion Week! Did any of them really stand out to you? Were you surprised by any of the shows? Sound off on our Facebook page, or leave a comment below!

Best Street Style from London Fashion Week

It breaks my heart to know that fashion week is almost over. New York, London and Milan have blown us away with their riveting collections. Fashion week in Paris is the last stop and it starts tomorrow, but before we move on to that I would love to share some of our favorite street style looks from London during fashion week. This year it seemed each show-goer, fashion icon and model were all about one thing: the jacket. From ankle length coats to leather and plaid patterns, this year the jacket was the main accessory. I have to say I’m getting a little excited about winter coming, I might have to dust off my coats a little earlier this year.
