Hair Clip Organizer

By Dara

It’s been a while since my last blog post, but now I’m back with a new project to share with everyone.  I, like many other females enjoy styling my hair.  However, it’s not always as simple as using a comb and some hairspray.  Every now and then I use some accessories such as bobby pins and hair clips.

I use to keep all my hair clips in a basket.  I spend quite a good amount of time searching through the basket just to find the clips I want to use.  All this wasted time spent searching for my cilps in the morning before work inspired me to be a bit more organized.

I took some fabric and covered a foam center board using 3M Super 77 multipurpose spray adhesive.   Remember to iron your fabric before covering the board.

Now is the fun part.  I chose different colors and sizes of some grosgrain ribbon to make a flower.  For example, I take a 3/8″ yellow grosgrain ribbon and laid it on top of a 5/8″ williamsberg blue grosgrain ribbon.  And I cut it at every 2 1/2″ so I that I can create a full circle and stitch the ribbon from one end to the other.  I made a total of four circles.  Then I placed each circle on top of each other to create a star shape.  I stiched the center using thread and also added a button.  After that I just pin down the flower to the board and pin a another grosgrain ribbon underneath so that it’s dangling.

You can decorate your hair clip organizer anyway you want.  The main idea is to have a ribbon that dangles so you can clip your accessosries to it.  Don’t forget to add a ribbon at the top of the board from behind.  This way you can hang it anywhere you like.

Wedding Favors

Wedding Favor Box

Picking out your wedding favors is one of the many exciting part of planning your wedding. I think using some handmade favor boxes is a great way to give your guest a special little “Thank you”.

A fun idea for using favor boxes is setting up a bar filled with your favorite candies and confections. You can pick candies that coordinate with your wedding colors or ones that remind you of your childhood. Place the candies in pretty jars, vases or bowls and have the boxes on the side for your guests to fill at their leisure.

You can also use the boxes as seating cards. Write your guest’s name and table number on a little card and tuck or tie it on top of the favor box. The boxes can be placed on tables and your guest will be sure to enjoy opening up their little gift from you.

The favor boxes are very easy to make and can be personalized in a variety of ways. Stamp your monogram on the side, glue on a photo or tie them with a coordinating ribbon, topped with a cute button or flower.

You can fill the boxes with anything you like such as candies, cookies or candle. I find edible favors to be the most popular and most enjoyed by guests.
