Highights From London Fall 2011 Fashion Week

By Blerona

Burberry’s Fall collection was named after the proto-supermodel Jean Shrimpton, based around her look in the early sixties. The collection was just beautiful with its bold colors, tulip-skirted dresses, mod sweaters and pants. But Burberry’s real success was the coats, the beautiful trim coats in various colors, textures and hints of mink, fur, closures and buttons.  Mathew Williamson’s collection was inspired by Francisco Infante-Arana, the Russian artist. The collection had an array of bright colors, and interesting patterns, fringe, beading and fur trim details. Antonio Berardi’s collection was full of stacked pleats bullion beaded sleeves, hints of lace, beautifully made beaded dresses on sheer fabric, and my favorite cashmere coat with a fox top and a trim of sheared mink, just gorgeous.  Sass & Bide Fall collection was based around different cultures and different textures, an urban warrior like woman. The collection included rich and electric shades of magenta, fuchsia, coral and tie-dye colors. My favorite piece was the yellow coat with hints of beading. Roksanda Ilincic’s Fall collection was in inspired by exotic birds, which makes sense that she would use bright vivid colors. The collection included wool tunics, tuxedo-striped trousers, and satin gowns. Some of my favorite looks was the separate tops and skirts pulled together by a contrast ribbon belt.
